Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why should my kids learn a foreign language at such a young age?

Discover the benefits of learning a foreign language here.

2. How much time will it take for my child to speak a language fluently?

Attaining language fluency is a long-term process that varies among individuals.  Several
factors affect how fluent an individual can become with the language.   These factors include
    (1) how much exposure to the foreign language does the child receive outside of the
classroom, (2) the child’s age, (3) the learning pace of the child, and (4) overall skill level of
the child.  For more information, visit the Classes page.

3. What if my child is having difficulty learning the material?

We strongly encourage families to reinforce our lessons at home through the use of the
activity sheets and audio files to these sheets that are provided each week.  When students
are having difficulties learning the material and the families are spending some time at home
reinforcing the material, we recommend that families use  resources to supplement class
instruction such as music, audio books, DVDs to help students get more comfortable with the
first stage of learning a language, listening.  Once the student feels more comfortable with
this stage, he or she may be ready to move onto to the understanding and speaking. Every
student’s situation is different and can be addressed on a case by case basis.  For more
information on resources to supplement the language learning at home, visit the Family
    Resources page.

4. Are there classes offered during the weekdays?

Yes, we heard from many families that wanted a weekday option.  We are pleased to
announce that we now provide afternoon classes in the Towson location.  Please visit our
schedule or sign up for our quarterly program updates for updated information on our future
    class offerings.

5. How much do the classes cost?

Based on a 10 week session with classes occurring once a week, the tuition for the
parent/toddler class is $173 plus a $20 annual registration fee.  The tuition for the kids only
class is $200 plus a $20 annual registration fee.  For classes twice a week, the tuition for
kids only classes is $368 plus a $20 annual registration fee.  See Classes for more
    information.

8. How qualified are the teachers at teaching my child?

All of our teachers are fun, energetic, and have a strong desire to share their language and
culture with children.  In many cases, they have teaching backgrounds either in their native
countries or in the United States.  They all have experience in working with children and have
had Maryland and FBI Criminal Background Checks. Find out more about our teachers.

9. What is the learning environment like?

It is our mission to teach children age-appropriate fundamentals of a foreign language in a
fun, safe, and nurturing group environment. By using kid-friendly visual and musical
materials, children can learn a new language and culture in a way that does not involve
memorization. Typical activities include songs, storybooks, arts and crafts, puppets, and
    games.

10. What are the expectations of my child behaviorally?

Families will receive welcome letters prior to the start of class that outline the classroom
expectations for students.  We encourage families to talk with their students regarding our
expectations so that the learning experience is a positive one for all of our students.
Students that are unable to follow classroom expectations after several warnings and
consultations with the family may be asked to leave our program.

11. What are the goals of the class?

Each class has learning objectives that are detailed in the newsletter that all registered
families receive at the start of a new session.
